Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's convenient remote features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle as well as start the motor and even find it using the smartphone app.
Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that releases it, place a coin between the fob and the cover and then pull it up with care.
Unlocking the Doors
Volvo's remote keyfobs unlock your car's doors, tailgate and flaps for filling with fuel with the push of a button. Remote key fobs can also turn on the ignition and activate the alarm. They can also operate the sunroof, in the event that it's fitted. You'll never need to look for your keys or get locked out of your vehicle.
You may not be aware of certain key fob features that aren't visible. One of these features is an unlocked and lock button that can be pressed in the event the battery of your key fob fails.
Keep your key fob in place with the Volvo logo facing up to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button that is on the outside of the body of the key fob, and gently press it to open a cover that conceals the manual key blade. You will need a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip this cover counterclockwise so that the arrow is aligned with "open."
Starting the Engine
Modern Volvo key fobs offer a level of convenience and function that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. But, as with any battery-powered electronic device key fobs may be depleted of its charge or cease working after a certain period of time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it might be time to replace the battery.
If your vehicle comes with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The car will be heated or cooled to the same temperature it was set to when it was parked, and it can run for up to 15 minutes.
Remove the cover on the back of the key fob using your fingernail. Under the cover, on a diagonal near the edge of body, you should find an unidentified button. You can remove it by sliding it downwards and to the right. The cover will come loose, and then slide off, revealing the manual blade! If you're unable to locate the button, take a look around the newly revealed manual key access to find a hidden lever or slot.
Close the Windows
One of the lesser-known features on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to close all windows immediately when you use the fobs. This is a great feature when you are trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.
Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and also the sunroof if it has one. After that, once you're done driving you can lock everything by pressing the lock button once more for four seconds.
You can also use the key fob to activate your car's panic alarm. This will emit a loud, attention-grabbing blare that will frighten off thieves and allow you to return home safe after a long night out. This feature can be very useful if you are living in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or wish to safeguard your family members while they are away.
The opening of the Tailgate
Volvo has loaded its key fobs with a variety of useful features. They are perfect when you're overwhelmed with shopping, or helping your children pack their sports gear after a session.
For example, if you have the Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped) it is possible to open it by using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it by pressing the same button.
When you're ready to get your car started Use the key fob to press the START button (and don't be concerned about your battery dying or your car not starting because it has a backup mechanical key slot too). This is only one of many useful trick for your brand new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs provide an array of benefits over a conventional mechanical car key. They aren't always working perfectly, and the batteries can die. You can program your key fob at home if you are in a hurry or don't have time visit a shop.
Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery and other keys. Place the key fob in a place with the Volvo logo facing up and then locate a tiny black button on the left-hand side of the fob. Slide replacement volvo key and to the right. The cover should loosen and fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade underneath it.
The key fob's unlock button twice quickly, and you will be able to unlock all of the doors and the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two minutes, you are able to close the windows and sunroof in the event that they're equipped. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't work, the owner's manual should include a method to reset the alarm.
